The Marlborough 135Laundry facilities are provided by the Condo Association for all residents and are for residents’ personal use only. Please be considerate of your neighbors by remembering that we all share the laundry facilities and it is our responsibility to help keep the facilities clean.

The laundry facilities are located in the basement.  Machines are available on a first come, first serve basis. If any of the machines are not working properly, please place a note on the machine and promptly notify management.

Because the laundry room is shared by 37 units, a few rules and responsibilities have been established. We ask all residents to adhere to these rules and do their part in keeping the laundry room clean and the machines functioning properly.

LAUNDRY ROOM RULES & ETIQUETTE

  • Each user is responsible for leaving washing machines and dryers in a completely clean condition following use. Washers, dryers, and lint traps must be cleaned after each use. Washing machine gaskets should be wiped down after each use and any spills should be wiped up immediately. Dryer lint trays should be cleaned after each use and should be checked and cleaned prior to each use.
  • Please do not leave your detergent, bleach, dryer sheets, etc. in the laundry room when you are not using the facilities. There is limited space within the facilities and these items should be kept within your unit. Any items that are required to be hung or flat dried should be dried in your unit.
  • Please show courtesy to your neighbors by removing your clothes from the machines as soon as possible. Setting a timer is highly recommended. Leaving clothes overnight is not allowed.
  • Other residents have permission to remove your clothes from the machines if the washing or drying cycles are complete and your clothes are in the way. Please set a timer and promptly remove your clothes to ensure others have access to the machines.
  • Laundry left unattended may be placed into storage.
  • If you happen to make a mess in the laundry room or in a machine, please clean up as soon as possible.

WASHING MACHINE RULES & RESPONSIBILITIES

MCA - HE Logo

All front loading washing machines, including those located in the Marlborough, are High Efficiency (HE) and use low-water levels in the wash and rinse process. For this reason, only High Efficiency (HE) Liquid detergents are allowed. These detergents can be purchased at a variety of retails stores and are designated by the HE symbol. Using regular detergent will likely result in washer errors, longer cycle times and reduced rinsing performance. It may also result in component failures and noticeable mold or mildew.

  • For best cleaning results, always read the laundry detergent label and use the recommended amount of HE detergent for your wash load size and amount of soil.
  • Use the designated dispenser compartment for each liquid laundry product – detergent, bleach, and fabric softener. Do not overfill dispenser compartments. Overfilling causes messes in the laundry room and may cause products to be dispensed too early, inhibiting proper cleaning of your clothes.
  • Do not attempt to open the dispenser drawer after the machine has started. Attempting to do so will cause water to leak on the floor and may cause the machine drawer to break, rendering the machine inoperable.
  • Please do not overload the washing machines. This will help ensure cleaner clothes, prevent over-sudsing and increase the lifespan of our machines.
  • The use of powdered detergent and powdered bleach are strictly prohibited.  Powdered laundry products cause “caking” or clogging in the dispenser, leading to clothing damage and machine breakdowns.
  • The use of detergent pods is also strictly prohibited. Due to the minimal amount of water used in our HE machines, the pods do not fully dissolve, leaving a sticky residue on clothes and pod remnants in machines.

DRYER RULES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Only clean clothes should be placed in the dryers. Please do not place dirty clothes into the dryers.
  • Please clean the lint traps after each dryer use and dispose of the lint in the trashcan provided. It is also a good idea to check the lint traps before placing a new load into the dryer in case the previous user forgot. This will help to reduce the risk of fire and ensure proper drying.
  • Please remove used fabric softener sheets from the dryer when you remove your clothes and dispose of the used sheets in the trashcan provided.
  • Please set a timer and remove dried clothes promptly to ensure the machines are available for others.
We appreciate your kind cooperation in keeping our laundry room clean and our machines working properly.
